Welcome to Provincetown!

We invite you to join us and the community to celebrate our resilience and good fortune! . For the 2024 harbor fundraiser on September 7, swimmers will swim along the East End shoreline from the Breakwater Hotel near Snail Road to Johnson Street Beach, 1.2 miles.

This year we’ve added a second Swim, after a number of requests, the Half-Mile Swim for people of all ages who would join a shorter route. Swim Route

Since the high tide determines our start time, this year the Swim begins at 2:30 pm.

For those unable to stay overnight, you might consider a daytrip on Bay State Cruises’ fast ferry! Thank you Bay State Cruises for being a longtime Swim sponsor.

Starting Line - The 1.2-mile Swim: Breakwater Hotel beach @Snail Road to Johnson Street beach. We will all start together, out and around the orange tetrahedron buoy, heading west. Please stay close to the curve of the shoreline - it is important for your safety and the kayaks and safety boats supporting you. Look for our kayaker “Rock Stars” guiding you away from the 14 rock groins along the shore.

Starting Line - Half-Mile Swim: the Town Landing beach at Atkins Lane to Johnson Street beach.

Registration and Finish line:
The big white tent, Johnson Street Beach for the Mermaid Tea by Far Land Provisions, music by Zoe Lewis, and Awards Ceremony.

For those who choose a fresh water swim, we sponsor a Swim for Life in Wellfleet’s Great Pond on the morning of Swim day - start time, 9:00 am.

Walkers are also invited to participate with a walk along the beach route and Commercial Street. Kayakers and safety boats will be asked, once again, to provide support and safety to the swimmers. Please register and consider raising pledges.

And we couldn’t present this quintessential Provincetown event without our dedicated volunteers. Please register and join us.

We have set up Watch Parties for the public along the shoreline to cheer on the swimmers. Beach locations: St Mary of the Harbor, 517 Commercial St; Cape Codder Guest House, 570 Commercial St; Kandall Lane and Pearl Street Town Landing. If you are on the waterfront please consider creating your own private Watch Party for family and friends. Contact jay@thecompact.org

Come immerse yourself, glide across the harbor’s surfaces as a swimmer or kayaker, or welcome swimmers on shore as a volunteer or cheerleader.

Or witness.
